Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is a non-invasive spectroscopic technique that utilizes unique vibrational fingerprints of molecules to identify and quantify molecules. The principle of SERS is that when analytes of interest are attached on a metallic (silver or gold) nanoparticle surface, its molecular Raman signals can be enhanced by up to 10^12 times, that is when single molecule detection is possible. Because these SERS spectra are highly specific and unique to individual molecules, it allows one to differentiate molecules with absolute specificity. More importantly, it can prevent false positives/negative signals from interfering molecules of similar properties from the surrounding environments.
At Silver Factory Technology Pte Ltd, we specialize in manufacturing ultrasensitive SERS chips that achieve part-per-billion (ppb) level of sensitivity and detection limit.
